Wedding Dresses

Were you one of the lucky girls …. did he pop the question over the Christmas festivities?

2011 is going to be a great year to get married, the whole world is in wedding mode ..Why ?

Because of the fantastic Kate and William .  We were all  dying to see who  she would pick to design the “Dress of the Century”.  Ms Catherine Middleton chose Bruce Oldfield !

A designer who has been around for years, in fact the Late Princess Diana was a true follower of his. His style is sophisticated timeless elegance.

He has been quoted as saying that Audrey Hepburn

and Grace Kelly are the ultimate in timeless style.

He also said that Kate is more sophisticated than Princess Diana was at her age.  So the world will be watching and waiting to see what creation he designs for her.

I love reading my Irish Wedding Journal, and my Martha Stewart Weddings at this time of the year. There are some wonderful photographs of gorgeous looking wedding gowns designed by Irish & international designers.

Amongst the Irish designers is Sharon Hoey, who has been designing stunning wedding gowns for some time. You can see her latest bridal wear at www.sharonhoey.ie

When I was getting married  I saw an ad for Chanel perfume in a magazine and I fell in love with the dress. I brought the picture to Kathy deStafford and together we came up with a wedding dress that was reminiscent of 1950 s style. Kathy is still designing and producing beautiful gowns. She also has a selection of dresses from other international designers. Check her out at www.destaffordbridal.ie .

Also check out www.myrtleivory.com for their beautiful 2011 collection of wedding gowns. Marina, Suzanne & Meghan will look after you if you decide to pay a visit.

Monique Lhullier,  one of Americas top bridal designers, top tip……

” A perfect gown has three important characterics : some kind of interesting detail , a silhouette that flatters your figure and it should reflect your personal style.  Looking for that perfect dress can be both daunting and very exciting for the bride to be . Bring along your Mom, one of your girlfriends and make a day of it. Organise to go for lunch.  Book the appointments with the designers and shops that you like.  Be daring; try on all the dresses that you even remotely like and then when you try on ‘THE ONE’, you will  know straight away , no matter how many other dresses you try on after that,  you will go back to ‘THE ONE’ . Today’s brides want to feel good and sexy  on their wedding day. After all, its the one day that requires a fabulous frock and shoes and veil and flowers and make-up and  hair and…………………………..happy shopping!!.”
